Leveraging the opportunity of the National Badminton Championship and the 14th National Games Badminton Qualification, the Chinese Badminton Association hosted an outdoor badminton promotion event (Zhengzhou Station) during this period. The promotion event included technical official training and outdoor badminton experience activities. The outdoor badminton training was primarily aimed at technical officials participating in the National Championship and the ’14th Games’ qualification refereeing work.
The training venue was chosen at the technical officials’ residence – Song Mountain Hotel. The training introduced five aspects: an overview of outdoor badminton, venues, equipment, rules, and the Chinese Badminton Association’s promotion policies for new projects. Subsequently, referee Liu Qian from Nanning Station and referee Zhu Xinqiang from Lingshui Station introduced the basic situation, implementation process, and precautions of the two stations’ promotion activities, respectively. Technical officials had a heated discussion from the perspective of competition formats and competition rules. Everyone expressed that outdoor badminton breaks the limitations of venues, is close to nature, and has unique fun. After the competition, everyone will actively promote the popularization and development of this sport in various places. On April 23, the outdoor badminton fun experience activity for media reporters and technical officials participating in the event coverage was held as scheduled. The experience activity used the first domestic hard outdoor badminton professional flooring jointly developed and designed by the Chinese Badminton Association and Yingliao Company. This flooring is fashionable and colorful, and adopts the most advanced shock absorption and anti-slip technology of outdoor flooring, which will be used for fans and the public to participate in experience activities in subsequent promotion activities. Everyone was enthusiastic, picked up rackets, walked onto the court, and experienced this new badminton project. Under the swinging rackets, badminton flies up and down. The audience watched the badminton rise and fall, cheered continuously, and the joyful sound attracted many people to stop and watch. On May 13, two years ago, the Badminton World Federation and the Chinese Badminton Association jointly held an outdoor badminton global press conference in Guangzhou, officially launching the outdoor badminton project to the world. After two years of effort, this sport has been promoted to more than 130 countries and regions such as Finland, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, and Tunisia. On March 1 this year, the Chinese Badminton Association issued the ‘Notice on Promoting Outdoor Badminton Activities Nationwide’, further increasing the domestic promotion efforts. Next, the Chinese Badminton Association will continue to provide technical support in rules, equipment, and other aspects, guide various places to hold competitions, activities, and enter campuses in the form of promotion activities, and bring this new leisure sport to the majority of enthusiasts.
