Paula Lynn Obanana: American-Filipina Badminton Player

Paula Lynn Obanana, an American-Filipina badminton player, officially became a U.S. citizen in May 2011.

In August 2013, Paula Lynn Obanana participated in the World Badminton Championships held in Guangzhou, China. She competed in the women’s doubles event with Li Yiheng, advancing to the second round after defeating a Ukrainian pair 2-1 in the first round. However, they were eliminated in the second round with a score of 0-2 (9-21, 15-21) against the 4th seeded Danish pair, Camilla Lüth Juul and Kristinna Pedersen.

Badminton at the 2011 Pan American Games saw significant achievements in women’s doubles and mixed doubles events. The women’s doubles team secured a bronze medal, while the mixed doubles team also earned a bronze medal.


In 2011 at the Brazil International Badminton Championships, the women’s doubles team emerged victorious, winning the championship title.


Looking back at the 2010 Brazil International Badminton Championships, the mixed doubles team was a strong contender, finishing in the top four. Additionally, the women’s doubles team claimed the championship title that year.
