Tai Tzu Ying to Face Chen Yufei in Finals After Grueling Victory

Tai Tzu Ying will compete against Chen Yufei for the championship today. In their past 24 encounters, Tai has secured 17 victories, though she recently suffered three consecutive defeats.

According to a October 29 report from Taipei’s Liberty Sports, Tai advanced to the women’s singles final after a hard-fought comeback victory over Japan’s ‘Ethereal Goddess’ Aya Ohori, with scores of 20-22, 21-10, 22-20 in the semifinals of the Super 750 Series French Open. Tai expressed her joy, noting it had been a while since her last final appearance.

In a post-match interview with BWF, Tai mentioned, “It’s been some time since I reached a final. With the top two seeds (An Se-young and Akane Yamaguchi) absent, I’m delighted to have this opportunity again.”

Reflecting on her preparation, Tai reiterated her habit of not watching pre-match videos for analysis. However, she observed Ohori’s quarterfinal match against Carolina Marin live to gauge her opponent’s on-court performance.

Recalling their previous encounter at the Hangzhou Asian Games where Tai experienced her first loss to Ohori, she admitted lacking initial confidence in the semifinal due to Ohori’s significant improvements, praising her opponent’s patience as a standout quality.
