Viktor Axelsen Withdraws from French Open Badminton After First-Round Loss

In the men’s singles first round of the BWF Super 750 French Open, Danish shuttler Viktor Axelsen faced Hong Kong China’s Ng Ka Long. After losing the first game 17-21, Axelsen decided to withdraw from the match.
This marks his second consecutive withdrawal, following his exit from the Denmark Open due to a leg injury prior to the Round of 16, which resulted in a walkover victory for Malaysia’s top player Lee Zii Jia.

Although Axelsen participated in the French Open this week, he was evidently still affected by the injury. He retired after playing only one game in the first round, granting Ng Ka Long a ticket to the Round of 16.

Ng Ka Long’s next opponent will be Singapore’s top player Loh Kean Yew. The two have met twice previously, with Loh winning both encounters.
